About KOIN Tv CBS 6
The station is a sister station to KRCW-TV (channel 32), a CW owned-and-operated station licensed in Salem. Both stations share studios situated in the basement of the KOIN Center skyscraper on Southwest Columbia Street in downtown Portland. KOIN’s transmitter is located in the Sylvan-Highlands neighborhood of the city.
At present, KOIN broadcasts a total of 43.5 hours of locally produced newscasts each week. This includes 5.5 hours of newscasts on weekdays and 2.5 hours each on Saturdays and Sundays. On February 1, 2007, KOIN made history as the first television station in the Portland market to broadcast its local newscasts in 16:9 widescreen standard definition. It aimed to provide viewers with an enhanced viewing experience.
According to Oregon Media Insiders, during Montecito’s ownership of KOIN, the station experienced a decline in local news ratings across all time periods. Among the four news-producing stations in the Portland market, KOIN had the largest decrease in audience share during that period.
KOIN TV has been serving the community since its first broadcast in 1953. It provides a variety of programming, including local news, weather updates, sports coverage, and entertainment content. The station’s news team is dedicated to delivering accurate and timely news to its viewers.
In addition to news programming, KOIN TV features various shows and segments that cater to the interests of its audience. These may include lifestyle features, community events coverage, and special reports on local topics and issues.
