KOAT-TV began broadcasting on October 2, 1953. It was originally owned by the Albuquerque Television Company, and it was affiliated with CBS. In 1954, KOAT-TV switched to ABC.
KOAT-TV is one of the most watched television stations in New Mexico. The station’s news department is known for its award-winning coverage of local news and events.
