KETV was founded on September 15, 1953, as KETV-TV. It was originally owned by the Omaha World-Herald Company. KETV 7 was the first television station in Omaha.
In 1995, KETV-TV was sold to Gannett. In 2014, Gannett merged with Belo Corporation to form TEGNA Inc. The call letters were changed to KETV in 2015.
KETV’s news operation is known as KETV NewsWatch 7. The station’s news team is led by news director Jeff Olsen. KETV NewsWatch 7 broadcasts a 30-minute morning newscast, a 30-minute midday newscast, and a 60-minute evening newscast. The station also produces a number of other news and public affairs programs.
