About KCLO Tv CBS 15
KCLO-TV, also known as Channel 15, is a television station located in Rapid City, South Dakota. It is affiliated with both CBS and The CW Plus networks. The station is owned by Nexstar Media Group and operates as a semi-satellite of KELO-TV, Channel 11, in Sioux Falls.
While KCLO-TV operates as a separate station, it is closely connected to KELO-TV and shares some resources. KCLO-TV has a news bureau and advertising sales office in Rapid City, and its transmitter is situated near downtown on Skyline Drive. However, most of its internal operations and master control are based at KELO-TV’s studios in downtown Sioux Falls.
KCLO-TV follows a unique schedule due to its location in the Mountain Time Zone. Its prime time programming begins at 6 p.m., an hour earlier than the rest of the Mountain Time Zone and the other KELOLAND stations in the Central Time Zone. The station broadcasts network programs provided by its parent station, but with time-shifted scheduling for the Mountain Time Zone.
While KCLO-TV simulcasts KELO-TV’s newscasts, featuring local weather inserts, it also offers its own syndicated programming. The station includes separate commercial inserts and legal station identifications.
In January 1991, during the Gulf War, KCLO-TV made the decision to broadcast network programs and live news from KELO-TV, rather than airing them on a one-hour delay as it had done before. This change was implemented permanently, allowing viewers to receive real-time news updates and programming.
Overall, KCLO-TV serves the Rapid City area as a CBS and The CW Plus affiliate, providing a combination of local and network programming, news coverage, and syndicated shows to its viewers.
