KATC TV 3, also known as KATC News, is a television station based in Lafayette, Louisiana, United States. It is an ABC-affiliated station owned by the E. W. Scripps Company.
About KATC News
KATC was founded on September 27, 1953, as KTCA-TV. It was originally owned by the Acadiana Broadcasting Company. The station’s first broadcast was on September 27, 1953. KTCA-TV was the first television station in Lafayette.
In 1987, KTCA-TV was sold to SagamoreHill Broadcasting. The station’s call letters were changed to KATC in 1993.
