KABC 7 TV, also known as ABC7, is a television station based in Los Angeles, California, United States. It is an ABC-affiliated station owned by the Walt Disney Company.
The station’s studios are situated in the Grand Central Business Centre of Glendale, while its transmitter is located on Mount Wilson.
The station’s roots trace back to September 17, 1949, when it was established as KECA-TV under the ownership of Earle C. Anthony, who also owned the Los Angeles Times newspaper. KECA-TV achieved a significant milestone in 1953 by becoming the first television station in Los Angeles to broadcast in color.
In 1954, the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) acquired KECA-TV, leading to a change in the station’s call letters to KABC-TV in 1958.
